To take a walk down the corridors of nostalgia, the first alumni of MIT SER was inaugurated by Hon. Dr. Asawari Bhave-Gudipudi, the Project Director of MIT School of Education & Research and Principal MIT SER, on 21st November, 2015. The meet started traditionally with the recitation of the World Peace Prayer followed by lighting of lamp by the chief guests. The occasion was graced by more than 40 Alumni ranging across various batches.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon. Principal Dr. Asawari Bhave Gudipudi underlined and praised the achievements of the Alumni of SER in all walks of life. She felt that it was matter of great pride for SER that its Alumni are holding positions of responsibility in various Academic Institutions. Few of them are successful entrepreneurs providing jobs to many others. She emphasized the need for strengthening the linkage between the Alumni and SER and current students. She also gave a brief account of the new courses that SER has started. She further asked the alumni to contribute to the social initiative taken by SER for the underprivileged women.
The chief guests for Alumni Meet were our very own best students and toppers of the previous batches of SER. Ms. Sneha Bisht and Ms. Rajni Dwivedi were the chief guests and Ms. Akanksha Pande was invited as guest of honor. The reason behind inviting our ex-students as chief guest was not only because they have been excellent students but because they are the real ambassadors of SER.
An interaction session with the alumni was conducted after the inaugural session. During this session students relived their moments and experiences in VGGTA. Hon. Principal Dr. Asawari Bhave-Gudipudi chaired the session and also interacted with the students. The topics for the discussion were the expectations of alumni from our institution and the institution’s expectations from the alumni. It was decided to strengthen the link between the current SER students and the alumni. The alumni promised their support to the current students in the area of training, placement, career counseling and any other help as demanded.
The interaction session was followed by cultural programme by current students of SER. A skit and a beautiful alumni song, ‘The College Days’, were presented. An atmosphere of cheerful friendliness was observed everywhere with old students reliving their old memories with their batch mates, seniors and juniors. Many of the current students were also seen interacting with the alumni and were trying to learn from their experiences. In all, the ambience was electrified with people seen dancing and chatting with each other.
The Alumni Meet ended with promises made to each other to meet again and everyone bid an emotional farewell to each other and their beloved SER.
